Communication is Key

User experience (UX) is a person's emotions and attitudes about using a particular product, system or service. This is what makes an interior designer so unique and special to you and the space. The ability to guide you gently through design choices and open your mind to new innovative ideas, while keeping a stern understanding of the clients preferences and needs. There is a lot of common ground between both fields. Many of your skills as a psychologist will transfer smoothly to a career in UX design, including your research experience, empathy abilities, and knowledge about human behavior and the human mind.

A savvy Designer can instantly create a color palate that suits the mood of the space. From there you'll want to think about function. How is the layout of the room archictecturally? How can you take advantage of the space? What are the challenges? What kind of lighting are you looking for? What is the room ideally meant for? After that you can get to the fun part that comes naturally to a professional designer. Repetition, balance, symmetry, shape, color, and textures.
